The trap

Host. Salt Wash Member of Morrison Formation — fluvial sandstone/conglomerate channels.

Trap. U-V (carnotite, tyuyamunite, coffinite) on carbon trash in channels. Uravan, Grants, Lisbon.

What a hit looks like. Canary-yellow carnotite on logs in Salt Wash ss; roll fronts in Grants. Not Springdale, not Shinarump.

Wrong mountain

Do not call every yellow sandstone 'Silver Reef.' Salt Wash is uranium country. Silver is not the vector.

How to use the score

The score orders the day. It is a walk sort. It is not an assay, a mining claim, or permission to enter. Killed ground stays on the map so the boundary is visible. Private land, tribal land, and park interiors stay off the walk.
