Business plan

Sell a Southwest field desk that names the play, the metal, and the ground you leave alone. The national gold-map apps already own coverage, reviews, and offline libraries. This one wins by being the walk packet a western prospector can use this weekend.

Desk · Ten plays · Privacy

The product

A ranked walk for gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, manganese, tungsten, uranium, and vanadium across fourteen belts on the Colorado Plateau and in southern Nevada and northern New Mexico. Each pin carries a play, a score, what a hit looks like, and a wrong-mountain warning. Distance starts from Here. Killed ground stays red.

The score orders the day. It is a walk sort. It is not an assay, a mining claim, or permission to enter. That sentence stays in the store listing, on the site, and in every post.

App Store record 6816591331. Bundle com.jordanprimo.metaltrap. Public site primo-trap-finder.netlify.app. Collected sales $0 until a receipt says otherwise.

What the field kit took from the apps people already pay for

Prices below are the public lists as of September 2026. Check the vendor page before quoting one.

Their strengthWhere it lives now
Detector Maps and Gold Prospector sell offline maps.Save stores the center of the current USGS view on the phone (topo, imagery, hybrid, geology, or 3DEP relief). About 48 tiles. Zoom in and save again for the walk you are about to make.
They sell LiDAR and hillshade so a gulch reads as a gulch. The 3DEP relief basemap is a USGS hillshade. Where 3DEP is lidar, that is what you are looking at. The label says 3DEP, not “AI terrain.”
Hybrid imagery with contours.USGS imagery + topo basemap.
Drainages and water.USGS water overlay.
Geology, geochem, historic mines, PLSS.Already on the desk: Macrostrat, NURE, MRDS, PLSS grid, newspaper pins.
Mining claims, dated. The Claims chip draws open BLM MLRS claims. The packet lists the open cases around that pin and the date of the query. Not corners. Not permission.
onX land status. The Surface chip is BLM surface-management color for agency ground. It does not show a landowner’s name or phone. Buyers who need the owner still keep onX.
Prospector’s Helper session log. LuckyFind routes and heat. The packet logs hours, finds, and grams on the phone. Track records the walk. My walks draws past tracks as a heat of where you stood. GPX shares that track. No account.

Left off on purpose

A photo score that pretends to be an assay. A nationwide coin-and-relic pin dump. Landowner names. A claim that historical quad sheets are inside the app: those sheets are a download archive, not a public tile we can cache, so the basemap stays current USGS topo. Android is a later port, after the iPhone listing is live.

Who pays

A western prospector who already owns a detector and already pays for onX or Gaia. They read DetectorProspector and the Nevada, Arizona, and Utah groups. Coin-shooters outside these belts are the wrong download. The subtitle and the first lines of the description do that filtering.

Gold, silver, and copper lead the public text. Uranium stays a chip inside the desk and off the ads.

Price

The walk list, USGS topo, Here, and the packet stay open. Primo Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Each plan has one 7-day trial, then it renews at that price. Hybrid, 3DEP relief, water, surface, claims, NURE, MRDS, Save, Track, and the session log are Pro. The public website shows those prices and leaves Pro off. It does not start a trial.

Ninety days

  1. Finish iPad screenshots if App Store Connect still wants them, confirm the Paid Apps Agreement, and submit 1.0 free. Paste the store text below.
  2. The day the product page exists, send one post to DetectorProspector, one to r/Prospecting, and one to a Nevada or Arizona detecting group. The draft is below.
  3. The ten play pages are the search channel. They ship with the next drop of the site. Silver Reef, Osceola, Techatticup, Cameron, Pioche, and Three Kids are the titles a prospector already types.
  4. Record a 45-second screen walk: Silver Reef, then Comet. Read the two metals. End on red ground. Caption: “Same range. Wrong metal. Walk the score.”
  5. Reply for fourteen days. Ask for a review only after someone says they opened a packet.
  6. Add the belt the replies actually ask for. Publish the changelog in the same three places.

Skip paid ads until the listing has ten reviews. After that, keep any spend inside Nevada, Arizona, and Utah, cap it at $10 a day, and stop if an install costs more than $2.

A season of cash

This is a planning range. A new navigation app posted by hand into those forums can reasonably see about 1,000 store-page views in ninety days. At a 30% install rate that is about 300 phones. Paid conversion waits until a yearly extra exists. A mention from a western detector channel is the stretch case, on the order of 2,000 installs.

The number that matters first is one review from a person who walked a pin in a state the desk covers.

Description.

Primo TRAP Finder ranks field walks for gold, silver, copper, and the other metals that sit in the same geologic trap. Fourteen belts across the Colorado Plateau and southern Nevada. Pick the metal. Open the packet. Walk the score from where you stand.

The score is a way to spend a day. It is not an assay, a mining claim, or permission to enter. Killed ground stays on the map. Stay off private land and follow local rules.

What you get
• Ranked walks for the metal you picked
• Packets with the play, the hit, and the wrong-mountain warning

The website does not include Pro. After the 7-day trial, the plan you chose renews at $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. A subscription renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage it in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Location is used while the app is open to show where you are. The fix is not uploaded for tracking. No account is required.

What’s New. First release. Ranked Southwest walks, packets, 3DEP relief, BLM surface and claims, a track saved on the phone, and GPX share.

Category. Navigation, then Utilities. Age 4+.

Review notes. No login. Pick a metal, tap a pin, open Packet. Here asks for location. GPX uses the share sheet. Scores are a walk sort, not a mining claim. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year after a 7-day trial. Do not require Pro to review the walk, the map, or the walk-list GPX.

The post to send

I built a walk list for the metal, not just the nearest gold pin. Fourteen belts, Colorado Plateau and southern Nevada. Each pin names the play and the ground that is closed. The score is a way to order the day. Free on the App Store: [url]. If a pin’s access note is wrong, I want that correction.

Send this only after the store URL exists. Record it as sent only after it is actually sent.
